Programmer

Amirthammal Guna Grace is a Programmer at NCAER since March 1, 2022. She is working with the National Data Innovation Centre (NDIC).

She was earlier employed at the National Institute of Epidemiology under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as Project Scientist-Data Analyst as part of the “India Hypertension Control Initiative” project. This project won the 2022 UN Interagency Task Force and the WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care Award. Amirthammal She has hands-on experience in overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of various databases for data collection, management, processing, visualisation, web-based mobile-based applications, and statistical data analysis. She has also worked with Principal Investigators, health research professionals, App developers, and statisticians. She has been involved in the training of trainers, and field enumerators, and in monitoring and supervising field and data teams.

Earlier she has worked on a range of health projects in national- and international-level institutes like the National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, Christian Medical College in collaboration with Penn State University, and World Health Organization. She is well-versed in the use of multiple programming and statistical software packages and tools, including STATA, SPSS, SQL, SAS, Tableau, R, Python, and Epi Info.

She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science from Anna University, Chennai, and a Master of Social Work degree from Periyar University, Salem, Tamil Nadu.
