Saurabh Bandyopadhyay

Dr Saurabh Bandyopadhyay is a Senior Fellow at NCAER.  

He has undertaken a wide variety of studies, including; Railways Passenger and Freight, Ratnagiri Refinery and Petrochemicals, Cement, etc. in the Infrastructure Sector; Agriculture Outlook, Convergence of Agricultural Intervention in Maharashtra, National Cooperative Development Council, National Dairy Development Board, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Ministry of Fishery, Animal Husbandry & Dairying in the Rural Economy Sector and, also in the area of Skill Economy, Direct Benefit Transfer, setting up of a separate office for the Central Registrar of Cooperative Society, amongst others. Dr Bandyopadhyay  started his career at the Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi and has more than 25 years of research experience. He has a Ph. D in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi

 
 
Shashanka Bhide

Dr Shashanka Bhide is a Honorary Senior Advisor at NCAER. He was associated with NCAER from 1982 to 2014 in different capacities. After leaving NCAER in July 2014, he took up the position of Director, Madras Institute of Development Studies, Chennai until his retirement in December 2018. His research has covered a number of areas in agriculture, macroeconomic modelling, infrastructure and poverty analysis. He has published extensively, including co-authoring and editing books and journal articles in these fields. Shashanka currently also serves as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of RBI and Board of Governors of the Institute for Social and Economic Change in Bangalore.

 
Ruchi Jain

Ruchi Jain is a Senior Research Analyst at NCAER. She is a demographer by training. Her primary research interest is in public health, gender, reproductive and sexual health and migration. At NCAER, she has worked on various projects like IDRC, IHDS and Rural Housing. Currently she is working with the National Data Innovation Centre. Her doctoral work focused on assessing behaviours of the single migrant women in Delhi and its impact on their sexual and mental health. She is a recipient of the UGC-NET fellowship for lectureship. She was also awarded JR Rele award for the best research paper. She received her Ph.D and M.Phil in population studies from International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai.

 
Laxmi Joshi

Laxmi Joshi is a Fellow at NCAER with research interests in agriculture and rural development. She has worked on issues related to the Agricultural Outlook Situation Analysis, National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, economic benefits of weather and marine services, air pollution issues in agriculture, India’s cotton revolution, dairy development, convergence and agricultural intervention in Maharashtra, farm mechanization, the National Policy for Farmers and fisheries sector. Also worked in Cement and Refinery and Petrochemicals. Before NCAER, she worked at the National Commission on Farmers and the National Institute for Agricultural Economics and Policy Research (NAIP). At NAIP worked  on various innovative research areas namely; ‘Radar Approach’ to measure sustainability; ‘ Meta- Analysis’ to assess impact of watershed, ‘Total Factor Productivity’ to measure the technological change; Congruence approach for priority setting in Uttaranchal agriculture; Diversification of agriculture in India and in South Asian countries and Resource Allocation in Agricultural Research.

 
Devender Pratap

Devender Pratap is a Fellow at NCAER. His current research interests include trade policy analysis/CGE modelling, GTAP database, social accounting matrix, input output analysis, construction of base-run for CGE modelling, macro-econometric modelling and agricultural/livestock economy. At NCAER, he has handled three major CGE models in single-country and multi-country frameworks. He has also been involved in the NCAER survey of agricultural markets in India.  

 
Ajaya Kumar Sahu

Ajaya Kumar Sahu is an Associate Fellow at NCAER. He is an Agricultural Economist by training. During his stay at the NCAER, he has worked on areas like poverty analysis, issues related to agriculture and rural development, labour and employment with special reference to quality of jobs and skills, public finance and analysis of price dynamics.  His expertise lies in handling large scale data like NSSO micro data on employment, consumption, enterprises, agriculture, ASI data, conducting primary survey that involves sampling and weight calculations. Presently he is working on Gig economy in India and the quarterly Business Expectations Survey. He completed his M. Phil in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and is presently pursuing his Ph. D in Economics from Jamia Milia Islamia. He cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) with the Junior Research Fellowship, conducted by the UGC.

 
Anil K Sharma

Anil K Sharma is Secretary to the Governing Body and Operations Director. He has held several positions at NCAER after joining in 1992 including the Officiating Director General in May-June 2021. He has also been the NABARD Chair Professor at NCAER; Visiting Researcher at the International Trade Division, The World Bank, Washington D.C. USA; Consultant to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Paris; Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Rome; and, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Manila; and, a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Research Institute for Agricultural Economics, Budapest, Hungary. His main areas of research include - The WTO Agreement on Agriculture, Economic and Policy Reforms in Agriculture, Price Policy and Price Stabilization Mechanisms, Rural Credit, Rural Infrastructure and Rural Poverty. He advised the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on trade negotiations in agriculture under the WTO Agreement on Agriculture and has been a member of several government and industry committees and task forces. He received his MSc & PhD in Agricultural Economics from Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University.

 
Dinesh Kumar Tiwari

Dinesh Kumar Tiwari is a Fellow at NCAER. He is an anthropologist with rich experience of primary data collection of large scale social surveys, qualitative interviews and experimental data collection with special focus on field management, monitoring and supervision, ensuring data quality. His areas of interest include migration studies, ethnographic research, public health and experimental economics.. At NCAER he has been part of the India Human Development Survey (IHDS) team and participated in the data collection, supervision, quality control and data processing of the wave II and II-M, Migration Survey. He is currently working under the project, National Data Innovation Centre towards conceptualizing and implementing experimental research of the Delhi Metropolitan Area Study (DMAS) and the Delhi NCR Coronavirus Telephone Survey (DCVTS).
