The India Policy Forum 2021

NCAER, India’s premier independent economic think tank, is hosting its marquee annual event, the India Policy Forum (IPF), from Monday, July 12, through Thursday, July 15, 2021. As in 2020, the IPF 2021 Conference will also be held virtually. The IPF, now in its 18th year, promotes rigorous empirical research on Indian economic policy through commissioned papers presented at the conference. These papers are discussed by leading researchers and top Indian policymakers, and then edited and published in the annual India Policy Forum volume.

Skilling in Schools

The New Education Policy 2020 has ushered in innovative approaches to learning by adding job-oriented and job-linked inputs in the school curriculum by the Central Board of Secondary Education. To take stock of the current status of teaching and learning of skills in CBSE schools, the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) and CBSE have entered into a collaboration to evaluate the goals, objectives, and delivery mechanisms of how CBSE schools currently teach vocational skills.

Launch of the NCAER Labour Economics Research Observatory (N-LERO): India's 3E Challenge- Education, Employability, and Employment

NCAER today launched its first research on India’s 3E Challenge- Education, Employability, and Employment under the New Skills at Work India (NSAWI) program. Housed in NCAER’s Labour Economics Research Observatory (LERO), NSAWI is an inaugural research initiative that will look at the skills gap currently affecting the Indian work environment.

Human Development in India: Evidence from IHDS

This workshop organised by NCAER in partnership with University of Maryland brought together researchers using IHDS-I data in India and overseas. This is the first household survey in India to have a full spectrum of health, education, economic, family, and gender modules for both urban and rural samples.
