The National Strategy for Financial Education (NSFE) 2020-25 recognizes the unique challenges of creating a financially aware and empowered India, and the need for convergence of efforts by multiple stakeholders that regulate and manage India’s financial resources. Following the spirit of NSFE 2020-25, NCAER’s newly established Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF) Chair Unit has initiated a series of workshops on investor education in the financial sector. The workshop series was inaugurated on December 16, 2020 with a keynote address by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, followed by three workshops on the securities, insurance, and pension fund markets.

In continuation of this series, we are now organizing the fourth and fifth workshops to be held on two consecutive days. These two workshops will focus on the banking sector and will be held virtually on Monday and Tuesday, June 21 & 22, 2021 from 1030 to 1300 hours IST.

On Monday, June 21, 2021, the fourth workshop will address issues in the payment and settlement systems and will be chaired by T Rabi Sankar, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India.

On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the fifth workshop will focus on banking and credit, and will be chaired by Anil Kumar Sharma, Executive Director, Reserve Bank of India.

Both these workshops will feature distinguished panelists from industry, consumer associations, academia, ombudsman, and regulatory agencies. To know more, please refer to the programmes for these workshops linked above.

These NCAER workshops with key regulators are an opportunity for participants to both learn from domain experts and regulators about their ideas and strategies for investor education and to contribute to refining the priorities for action and for creating scope for relevant further research and improving the knowledge base in this area.

Participation in the workshops is by prior registration.
