About the Position

Are you passionate about social media networks? Looking for an opportunity to grow creatively and professionally? Here is one for you to expand your horizons. Become the voice of National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) by managing its social media strategy.

NCAER is at the forefront of applied economic research in the country and seeks a dynamic Social Media Associate who will help leverage its knowledge in public policy research and analysis through well-articulated communication and novel outreach strategy.

The Social Media Associate will work with NCAER management and researchers to sharpen its messages, manage written and visual communications, organize conferences and events, develop social media profile and prepare materials for fundraising activities. This requires a candidate well-versed in communication strategies, particularly in connection with communicating research and events relating to public policy.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Build NCAER’s capacity to communicate its research in the most effective way to reach and influence a diverse set of
  • Produce communication products based on NCAER’s research and events.
  • Assist in delivering timely research communication through various mediums (text, graphics, audio, video) and via multiple channels (website, social media, direct mail etc.), in cooperation with NCAER management, relevant internal and external researchers.
  • Assist in optimizing company pages within each communication channel by capturing and analyzing appropriate social media metrics and providing insights and practices to increase NCAER’s visibility.
  • Provide advice and support to the Director-General and NCAER lead researchers on ways to promote public events, organize outreach initiatives, and communicate their key outcomes and highlights.
  • Assist Director-General and lead researchers in developing fundraising materials.

Experience and skills

  • A university degree in public policy, media and mass communications, journalism, public administration, business administration, or other related fields. An undergraduate degree combined with relevant experience will be duly considered. A combination of public policy and mass communication / media studies / journalism degree is desirable. Knowledge of graphic design and design software (Photoshop / InDesign / Illustrator / Canva / others) is an advantage.
  • 1-5 years of progressively relevant professional work experience, including communication management, brand building, and content writing.
  • Adequate knowledge of search engine optimization, conversion rate optimization, and social analytics tools.
  • Ability to conceptualize and communicate research
  • Experience with academic and policy communication.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with fluency in both oral and written English.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Diligence and commitment to professional development and capacity building of NCAER staff

Compensation

A competitive salary commensurate with NCAER policies and experience of the candidate.

Appointment term

NCAER offers contractual appointments which are renewable based on satisfactory performance.
