Senior Communications Adviser

Dr Sukriti Chauhan is Senior Communications Adviser for Content, Outreach, Media & Development Support (COMS). She has a decade-long experience in public health and human rights with a focus on gender issues. In her last assignment, she was Communications Lead at the Population Council of India, where she was involved in implementation of brand building and social media strategies, website curation, and global team engagement. Prior to that, she was Director, Global Health Strategies (GHS), where she oversaw management of a family planning project across six States in India, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. She was also involved in the Grand Challenges in Global Health Program, an initiative started by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation with India’s Department of Biotechnology and the Biotechnology Industrial Research Assistance Council to foster scientific and technological innovation for solving key health problems in the developing world. She engaged with the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) Communications Unit to build the capacity of scientists to effectively relay scientific evidence to the public and key decision-makers. 

 

Sukriti has a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, with her thesis on ‘Legal and Social Impact of HIV/AIDS on Abandoned Housewives in Kolkata and Delhi’. She received her Master’s in International Development Law from Warwick University, UK, where she won an INLAKS scholarship to pursue LLM, and completed her BA and LLB from Symbiosis Law College, Pune. She has also published widely on healthcare issues.
