Special Assistant to the Director-General

Anwesha Pandey is Special Assistant to the Director-General.  She has a diverse work experience with international and domestic not-for-profit organizations, multinationals, and rights-based groups. She has worked on gender and Dalit issues and has been actively involved in rights-based advocacy, particularly relating to Right-to-Food and Right-to-Information work in Rajasthan. Anwesha started her career with a software firm in Ranchi. She soon moved into working on development issues and female foeticide with Action Aid International in Jaipur (2002-04), and then as a researcher on gender and children’s rights in Jaipur with Jagori and as an active member of the People’s Union of Civil Liberties (2004-06).  She also worked with All India Radio for two years during this period. Anwesha then worked with Cairn India Ltd in Gurgaon as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Cairn’s midstream petroleum business, supporting a range of corporate functions, including their CSR strategy, outreach events, record maintenance, and consultant management and training (2008-11). During 2011-16, Anwesha worked as the Senior Program Assistant to the India Country Director of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Banaras Hindu University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Information Management from the Xavier Institute of Social Service in Ranchi.
